  • Overview

    Assistant Controller to help lead a 10-person accounting department including AP, AR, GL, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Fixed Assets, and Compliance.


    Must possess a service-oriented mindset, be a problem-solver with the ability to work with Operations Management in two distinct divisions. Strong leadership with the ability to consistently meet deadlines in a motivating manner to promote growth and guide department priorities, responsibilities and goals.


    • Coordinate relationship, timeline and PBC list completion with external CPA firm for annual review engagement and periodic bank audits
    • Manage the monthly close timeline and to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data. Ensure all reconciliations are performed monthly or as frequent as deemed necessary
    • Proven ability to interpret, conclude and clearly report financial information to Executive or Operations Management
    • Develop and monitor routine processes to communicate KPIs and analysis trends to stakeholders
    • Experience with and ability to move confidently within accounting software, for report design improvement, improved functionality and troubleshooting is critical
    • Experience working closely with IT and Software Developers to accomplish technology reliant project goals and ensure system integrity for daily processes
    • Review internal controls and processes to identify enhancements that create value, improve efficiency and reduce costs company-wide
    • Coordinating or assisting with the annual budget process and providing periodic analysis of performance against budgeted expectations
    • Assist in the renewal and accounting of self-insured business and health insurance portfolios. Provide analysis and track performance against plan year expectations
    • Oversee all on-going relationships, products and accounts with regards to treasury management including operating checking accounts, credit cards, Line of Credit, Equipment Loans and Investments


    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience
    • CPA, or actively pursuing CPA
    • Proficiency in MS Excel including charts, pivot tables, and other analytical tools
    • Experience supervising 3+ individuals required
    • Knowledge and understanding of Construction accounting and WIP accounting principles and practices a plus.
    • Experience processing, reconciling and recording payroll, payroll taxes and benefits transactions a plus

    Work Environment:

    Work takes place in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to loud. Generally, a 40-hour week, but could require long hours, including evenings and weekends. Fast paced and working under pressure is unavoidable.
